The Historic Grosse Ile Lighthouse Renovation Project has been undertaken to restore the North Channel Front Range light. Baird and Lowler Building Co. was hired by the Township of Grosse Ile, through the coordination of Smay Trombley Architecture, the Grosse Ile Historical Society, and the Michigan State Historic Preservation Office to complete this project. Enjoy your visit!

ReplyDeleteIt has been many years since I have visited the Lighthouse. I had the pleasure of playing inside her as a child. My grandfather (R.L.Taylor) let me wander up inside the towering steps and peer out the top windows.
The last time I was there, was after he had passed and we spread his ashes out over the rails into the river.
Many fond memories of this icon. Thanks for keeping her alive.
